Why the Bible is an Amazing Book to Me

Introduction

If there is a book that needs to be read, read, and read again, it is the Bible. But unfortunately, it is the only book in the whole wide world that has come under numerous attacks. Muslims deny the efficacy of the word of God, the Jews deny the authority and inspiration of the word of God, and the atheists reject the teachings and morals it teaches. Sadly, the liberals call the Scripture outdated while mocking the truth it presents. There are those who use the Word of God to defend all sorts of wicked and abominable things.

6 Powerful Bible Verses that Transformed My Life

It is sad, yes. Thousands of Christians gather together every week to study, learn, and meditate upon this precious word, the Bible, because of the benefits that it has in their lives. May I tell you that if you have never read your Bible cover to cover, you need to do so? Let’s go back to the Bible to seek God ourselves.

Why the Bible?

Because of the knowledge it gives:

If there is a way a man can know God, it is through Scripture. The Word of God gives knowledge. It is important to understand that God desires that we know him.

Proverbs 2:5  Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Hosea 4:1  Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. The reason I am saved is because of the Bible. It shows me what I need to know about sin, the judgment of God, the righteousness of Christ, and faith alone. I will never be saved if not for the Bible, God’s living, holy, and precious word.

Because of the restraining order:

The Scripture gives us a restraining order to do certain things and not to do certain things. Don’t get me wrong, you are free to do whatever you want, but there are things that the Bible explicitly warns us not to do. I am restrained from certain things because the Word of God tells me that those things are wrong for me. Therefore, if I do those things that are not allowed, it will be to my disadvantage.

David says in the Psalms, “Psalm 119:11  Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”

Someone said, “the Bible will get you closer to God, while sins will get you farther away from the Bible.”

Because it will make you wiser:

The word of God will make you wiser to discern both good and evil. We live in a world that is foolish, especially in the decision-making process. It is sometimes difficult to make a wise decision, but when you go to the word of God, you will get a clearer understanding of what needs to be done.

Psalm 119:98  Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.

The Bible shows you different examples:

The Bible is filled with different characters, and these characters are examples of what is good and what is bad. These examples teach us how to live and how not to live. Are you learning anything from the Bible? Are you getting the truth out of the world of God? The Bible provides a pattern for living. You can see the good, bad, and ugly in the Word of God, and that does not make it less inspired, inerrant, and infallible.

1 Corinthians 10:11  Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Romans 15:4  For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

      Conclusion:

These are just a few reasons why I love the Word of God, the precious word of God. As one of the hymns states, “Holy Bible, Book Divine, precious treasure, thou are mine.” I hope that you will make the Bible your companion in any given situation, and that you will hide the word of God in your heart daily. The precept of God is the only book that can take a confused man out of the state of confusion, and make him wiser to salvation and godly living.
